And this is where rattan came into the picture, which some national exporters began to bring in from Indonesia, where it grows wild in the form of a climbing palm tree.

The Resurgence Of Rattan

Since the late 1980s, natural materials – including rattan itself – pushed by plastic derivatives, have been disappearing from fashionable interiors.

In recent years, however, with the birth of the Eco-Friendly trend, which places the sustainability of products at the center, as well as the calm and artisanal touch that organic materials bring, rattan has re-emerged stronger than ever.

Beyond the actual appearance and textures of the pieces made with this fiber, which always bring warmth to the space, what convinces enthusiasts of the Eco-Friendly style is that its raw materials are completely recyclable. In other words, they follow one of the rules of the 3 R’s, the basic key to caring for the planet: recycle, reduce and reuse.

In addition, rattan in particular offers clear constructive advantages, including its malleability in the manufacturing process, always carried out by hand by specialized craftsmen, combined with the great resistance of the piece once it is finished.
